Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor and editor, as was Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from an ethnically Jewish origin. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County in California at the age of 7 years old. They lived in a place without electricity. In 1988, she got her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to be successful in her roles in many movies. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
