Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to fame after releasing her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But an Number in 1994. Her album, which was launched when she was only fifteen years old, went Gold. The collaboration was strongly influenced by R. Kelly, and made her a star on the map. In 1996 she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland in her sophomore studio album One In A Million, that included the top-selling single If Your Girl Knew. Aaliyah's sophomore album called One in a million, was released in 1996. It included the first hit single If Your Girl Only Knew. She was also on the screen in Romeo Must Die, a action/romance film starring Jet-Li. Joel Silver, a film producer at an award ceremony when she got the role, noticed her. She was cast in the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, it was released in 2002. After that, she entered the Matrix by playing Zee on The Matrix Sequels having also appeared in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. Aarti Magnumdar, her formal name, but she is also known as Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Her acting career started in the the mid 2000's, with a few roles on TV and films. Other notable works she has done include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. She has appeared in numerous commercials for Volvo's international automobile maker. The mother of her daughter who lives in Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting.
